The Global Fund PSC brings the voice, knowledge and expertise of the private sector to the leading funding agency in global health to combat the deadliest infectious diseases.

The private sector plays a pivotal role in the Global Fund, advancing innovation in products and programs, contributing funding and technical expertise, and providing training, governance and advocacy to enhance the impact of global health initiatives.

The PSC holds one of the 20 voting board seats of the Global Fund. Over the years, representatives of the PSC have worked on Board Committees and Working Groups to guide Global Fund policies and priorities and maximize the impact of Global Fund-supported programs to end AIDS, TB and malaria by bringing the insights of the corporate sector to four key areas: strategy and governance, advocacy, mobilization, and organized action.

  • PSC holds one of the 20 voting seats of the Global Fund’s Board. PSC elects the private sector’s voting Board Member and Alternate Board Member to the Global Fund.

Elected PSC members also participate in Global Fund’s committees, ensuring that Global Fund initiatives actively engage the business sector, while bringing assets and core expertise to help improve the Global Fund’s efficiency.

  • Members engage in high-level meetings and events with government, NGOs and Global Fund representatives. PSC also leverages learnings from each member to nurture a compelling narrative for further private sector engagement on elimination of the three diseases.

  • Private sector and other nongovernment partners have contributed over US$2.7 billion as of July 2019 to expand the reach of Global Fund investments and save millions of lives. The role the private sector plays and its contributions have significantly increased since the Global Fund's founding. PSC is particularly active around the Global Fund’s Replenishments through direct contributions of some of its members and mobilization efforts directed to traditional donors.

  • PSC is coordinated by a Focal Point organization, currently the High Lantern Group (HLG). As the Focal Point, HLG works with businesses willing to contribute their expertise, advise the Board's deliberations, ensures ongoing relations with the Global Fund and advocates for the role of business in global health.
